Back in 2006, I had just left a career as an account manager at an advertising agency to become a full-time stay-at-home mom. Once my daughter started school, I needed something flexible — something I could build without giving up what mattered most.
I came across an article about virtual assistance and decided to try it. I didn't even have an internet connection at home. I started from a local cyber café, landed my first client, and didn't stop.
By 2010, the demand was bigger than I could handle alone. I founded Virtary from a corner of my living room — bootstrapped, no outside funding. One client at a time, I built a team that shared the same standard I held myself to.
We grew into a top-rated operation on Upwork, ranking in the top 10% of contractors on the platform. But somewhere along the way, I noticed something changing in what clients actually needed.
They didn't just need a VA. They needed someone to own the work — to take execution completely off their plate. They were tired of managing freelancers, correcting mistakes, and repeating instructions.
So we listened. And we evolved.
